What made you successful in the first place?

Are you looking to grow your sales?

Do you need more leads in your business?

Have you stopped recently to think about what has worked in the past?

One of the best tips I can give for increasing your leads and growing your sales is to think about what you did when you very first started your business.  For many people in business, when we started there was no Plan B:  it's a situation of “do-or-die” and we pull out all the stops and do what we need to do to get the money to pay the bills.

Oftentimes when I'm doing a strategy session with people and we're looking at various ideas and options, I will ask the question “What did you do when you very first started?” People will start to mention stuff that they used to do and then they pause halfway through and in realisation: “I should really do that again! I don't know why I stopped doing that!” and other similar comments.

So what did you start to do when failure was not an option?

Some of the common answers include

  • regular phone calls to introduce yourself to prospective clients

  • asking for referrals after every single completed job

  • doing flyers that you drop off with clients letting them know what else you could do for them

  • doing a follow up call after a job to see if they were happy, if they had anything else that they might need doing or if they knew anybody else who needed what you offered

Sometimes it really is the simple things that get the best results. In the current condition of the world, it is not the time to be getting complicated; now is the time to be doing what you know works; to be doing it consistently; and to be reviewing the results and tweaking as necessary.

Here’s to your success!
