Reframe The Resistance

Mike Clark + Reframe the Resistance

Sharp insight. Practical action. Every time.

When was the last time someone pushed back on a decision you thought was solid?

It’s easy to see resistance as a problem—something to fix or overcome. But often, resistance is just unspoken concern, misalignment, or misunderstanding waiting to be surfaced.

Over the years, I’ve learned this:

Pushback is feedback in disguise.
It’s a doorway to deeper understanding—if you’re willing to walk through it. People push back because they care. The alternative is apathy.

Instead of pushing harder or explaining louder, ask questions:

  • What’s making this feel like the wrong move to you?

  • What do you need to feel more confident about this decision?

You might uncover missing context, a better way forward, or a gap in communication that needs closing.

I’ve seen business owners reframe resistance into powerful conversations that led to stronger buy-in, smarter decisions, and better culture. Not because they “won the argument,” but because they listened for the gold behind the pushback.

So, here’s your challenge:

Next time you face resistance—pause.
Ask. Listen. Learn.
Then act with clarity.

Resistance doesn’t mean stop.
It is an invitation to pause and pay attention.

Teams that lean into discussions buy into decisions.
