Clarity and Feedback

Mike Clark Blog Clarity And Feedback

What have you succeeded in lately? Maybe you have landed a new client?  Are you seeing the results of your hard work on the culture of your team? Perhaps you have created a new habit which is positively impacting your daily life?

Success is not merely a destination; it's a journey, a series of moments where your hard work and determination have paid off. These moments of accomplishment are milestones which hold the potential for growth. To truly harness the power of your successes, you need to study them, and use the feedback you find to cultivate clarity in your forward path. Here are three key areas to pay attention to within your success stories.

Leverage Success:

When you take a closer look at your achievements, it’s very likely you will notice common threads. A young woman I know excelled in her study, achieving the ultimate academic accolade of the education facility she attended, but her motivation was not academic - it was relational. This relational thread to her strengths enabled her to have a focus which she leveraged for academic success. Understanding what you bring to the table and what you need in various situations allows you to seek out opportunities where these drivers can lead to even more success. What elements have consistently contributed to your accomplishments? Identifying these factors is a key to unlocking your full potential.

Navigate Challenge :

Every pursuit with a worthwhile reward carries an inherent degree of risk. Your unique perspective on the world can serve as a guiding light in navigating these challenges. The better you understand yourself, the better equipped you become to confront and conquer difficult situations. A number of years back, a key staff member was out of action in our business for several weeks due to a car accident in their family.  As a small team, we were able to pool resources and cover the gaps that their absence left. We navigated the difficult time, and learned much from it in terms of systems and resourcing. Your successes are not just moments to celebrate but also opportunities to get feedback about both strengths and weaknesses, and how to use this knowledge to steer you through future challenges.

Consistent Persistence:

To achieve success, you need more than talent and determination; you need motivation. What drove you to persist and triumph in your last endeavor? Recognising the motivating factors behind your achievements can provide valuable insight into your direction and the connections you build along the way. It’s been our privilege to work with countless individuals whose vision has enabled them to steer their way forward through the long road to achieve incredible success. Josh, who worked with us a number of years ago, was not a runner. He began first to run everyday; then to run five kilometers every day.  Motivated to help raise money to help seek a cancer cure, he ran a kilometre for each donated dollar in November of 2021. Two years after that first focus, he is currently running around eighty kilometres a week; building up for his November focus of fundraising for the Cancer Society. His running goal, and fundraising goal have grown exponentially. (We will be sharing an opportunity to contribute to this venture over the next few weeks.) What is the “why” that keeps you showing up day after day, taking you through to the goals you seek?

In the great tapestry of life, each success is a thread, and when woven together with intention, they create a masterpiece of growth and accomplishment. The challenge for this week is to embrace your successes, understand your strengths, and use them as tools for navigating life's challenges and persistently moving forward. Your journey is your own, and it's worth every step.

Here’s to your success!
